[Anping News] In the production workshop of Wangdu Technology Shared Intelligent Manufacturing Factory in Anping County, Hebei Province, a silver fully automatic production line is running at high speed: after the metal wires are accurately cut by laser, they are sent to the welding station in an orderly manner by a robotic arm. After 2 minutes, a piece of railway guardrail net with standard specifications is completed - this is the actual production scene of the country's first fully automatic welding line for railway guardrail nets. The production line completed debugging and entered the trial production stage in August 2025. Its intelligence level and production efficiency have set a new industry record.
According to Cui Wei, executive director of the Hebei Wire Mesh Industry Technology Research Institute, this production line is the result of joint research and development by Anping County, Tsinghua University's Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute, and Hebei University of Science and Technology. It has overcome six key technologies such as laser blanking precision control and multi-station collaborative welding. "Traditional manual welding requires workers to operate point by point. A guardrail net takes nearly 20 minutes, and the welding point strength error can reach ±0.5mm." Cui Wei said that through modular design and intelligent algorithm control, the new production line controls the welding accuracy within ±0.02mm, while achieving 24-hour continuous operation, and the production capacity is 8 times higher than the traditional mode.
Intelligent upgrades are not only reflected in production efficiency, but also promote leap-forward improvements in product quality. In the laboratory of Netmaker Wire Mesh Technology (Anping) Co., Ltd., a new generation of intelligent netting equipment is being developed. "In the past, workers had to manually move counterweights to adjust the wire tension. Uneven meshes would appear if you were not careful." Ma Rui, general manager of the company, pointed to a CNC loom and said that now the CNC system with five servo motors can monitor the wire tension in real time, not only increasing the number of stainless steel meshes from 400 meshes to 1,000 meshes, but also realizing the precision weaving of special metal meshes such as nickel meshes and copper meshes. The products have been used in the field of aerospace filtration.
In terms of green manufacturing, the industry is also ushering in process innovation. The galvanizing anti-corrosion process commonly used in traditional metal wire mesh frames is gradually being replaced by plastic dipping technology. Technical documents from Cixi Longshan Yizhan Plastic Products Factory show that the dip-coating process uses PVC powder as the coating material and is cured at high temperature to form a 0.5-1.0mm thick anti-corrosion layer. The product's salt spray resistance is increased by three times, and there is no heavy metal emission. This environmentally friendly technology has been widely used in outdoor scenes such as high-speed guardrails and garden guardrails. It has the advantages of good feel and convenient installation, and its market share has an annual growth rate of 15%.
From infrastructure to high-end manufacturing, the application boundaries of wire mesh frames continue to expand. The latest industry trends show that 316L stainless steel mesh has been successfully used in aircraft engine fuel filtration systems and spacecraft propulsion components due to its high temperature resistance and anti-fatigue properties. After an aircraft manufacturer adopted high-precision stainless steel mesh, engine maintenance intervals were extended by 30%; the sample collection system of NASA's Mars rover also used special metal mesh to ensure reliable operation in extreme environments.
Facing the industry trends of intelligence, high-end and green, Cui Wei believes: "The wire mesh industry is shifting from 'scale expansion' to 'value enhancement'. In the future, through the modular adaptation of intelligent equipment, fully automatic production lines will be able to produce photovoltaic support nets and deep-sea breeding nets. and other diversified products to promote the industry to move up the value chain. "It is understood that Anping County plans to promote 50 intelligent production lines by 2026, driving the regional wire mesh industry output value to exceed 30 billion yuan, and creating a global innovation hub for wire mesh intelligent manufacturing.
