1. Product brief description
Home shelf metal mesh is made of medium and low-strength metal wires as raw materials and is made into a mesh structure through lightweight technology. It is the core load-bearing component of home shelves and balances functionality and decorative attributes.
Common materials: Ordinary steel wire and iron wire are the mainstream, which are low-cost and meet the daily load-bearing of families (single-layer load-bearing is mostly 10-50kg); 201 stainless steel wire can be used in humid environments (such as balconies and bathrooms), which has stronger rust resistance; some light luxury models use aluminum wire, which is lighter in weight and has its own metallic luster. The wire diameter is usually between 1.5-4.0mm to avoid the shelf being too bulky.
Main uses: Divided into three categories, the first is the shelf layer net, which is used to place snacks, books, storage boxes, etc.; the second is the shelf side net, which is installed on both sides of the shelf to prevent items from falling and improve the overall stability; the third is the shelf partition net, which is used for partitioning within the layer net, such as distinguishing snacks and stationery, and is suitable for balcony storage racks, living room display racks, study bookshelves, etc.

2. Core process characteristics
Its process flow is designed around "lightweight, good-looking, and easy to install". The key links focus on the use needs of home scenes, and are divided into four steps:
1. Raw material pretreatment: taking into account both cost and basic performance
Simple screening: conduct diameter tolerance testing on metal wires to eliminate overly thin or bent raw materials. There is no need to perform high-intensity testing like commercial shelves, and it can only meet the household load-bearing requirements.
Surface impurity removal: Simple pickling is used to remove rust on the surface of the metal wire. Some low-cost products will be directly polished with sandpaper to reduce process costs and prepare the base for subsequent surface treatment.
Straighten and cut: Use a small straightening device to straighten the metal wire, and then cut it accurately according to the conventional size of the home shelf (such as 60cm×30cm, 80cm×40cm). The error is controlled within ±1mm to ensure that the mesh body and the shelf frame fit.
2. Mesh body molding: focusing on lightweight and easy assembly
According to the structural requirements of home shelves, the molding process is selected with "lightness and stability" as the core:
Spot welding forming (mainstream): suitable for layer mesh and side mesh. Arrange the cut metal wires in the longitude and latitude directions, and weld and fix them with small automatic spot welding equipment. The diameter of the solder joints is controlled at 2-3mm, which not only ensures the firmness, but also avoids excessive solder joints affecting the appearance. After welding, the solder joints will be polished with fine sandpaper to prevent scratches on the hands during assembly.
Weaving forming (auxiliary): suitable for partition nets or light layer nets. Using the "plain weave" process, warp and weft wires are cross-woven, the mesh size is uniform (commonly 2-5cm), and the flexibility is good. It can be slightly adjusted according to the size of the shelf, making it easy to adapt to layer nets of different widths.
3. Surface treatment: focus on appearance and home compatibility
In view of the diversity of home styles, surface treatment pays more attention to color and texture. There are three common methods:
Powder spraying: The most mainstream process, the powder coating is adhered to the surface of the mesh through electrostatic adsorption. It can achieve a variety of soft colors such as white, light gray, Morandi pink, etc. The coating thickness is 30-50μm, scratch-resistant and easy to clean, suitable for Nordic and minimalist style homes.
Dip plastic treatment: mostly used in children's rooms or scenes with fragile items. Dip the mesh into a PVC plastic solution to form a 0.5-1mm thick soft coating. It feels gentle and not cold, and can protect books and toys from being scratched. The colors are mostly black, gray and other stain-resistant styles.
Electroplating treatment: suitable for industrial style or light luxury style shelves. Plating nickel or chromium on the surface creates a bright silver metallic texture without additional coloring. It has a high-end feel and has good rust resistance. It is suitable for prominent locations such as living room display racks.
4. Post-processing and inspection: suitable for home installation
Edge treatment: "fold" or "round" the ends of the metal wires around the mesh body to completely eliminate sharp corners and avoid injuries from bumps during home use.
Pre-assembled accessories: welding or drilling holes on the edge of the mesh body, pre-installed buckles, screws and other connecting parts, so that users can assemble directly with the shelf frame without drilling additional holes, reducing the difficulty of installation.
Simple inspection: There are two main tests. One is the appearance inspection, check whether the coating is peeled off, color difference, and whether the solder joints are flat; the other is the basic load-bearing test, which is to evenly place items of rated weight (such as 20kg) on the mesh body and let it stand for 4 hours without deformation. It is qualified. There is no need for high load test of commercial shelves.
